"Good evening Dr. Pourgol. I hope all is well with you these days. I see you are making great strides in the Osteopathic world! Congratulations to you and your support team…………….I have been very busy this past year growing my business, lately being booked weeks in advance. The osteopathy component to my practice is definitely what has stimulated the growth in the past year, almost doubling my income in one year! This has happened without advertising, simply by word of mouth, client referrals! And I can honestly say that working with others and helping them cope or relieve their pain is one of the most rewarding jobs I can imagine having."

National Academy of Osteopathy (NAO), located in the York University Heights (Toronto) is a school founded as a Canadian institution that would offer an excellent education nationally and internationally, be a catalyst for developing a unified profession, conduct research to further the scientific basis of manual osteopathy, become the home for knowledge related to manual osteopathy and be the face of the profession to governments, third party payers, and the general public.

We are a fully accredited, professional educational institution with professional faculty and staff who are experts in their fields. NAO offers full time as well as part time European style manual osteopathy professional programs (online as well as on-campus) leading to a Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice – DOMP. The title DOMP is a Canadian title accepted by most Canadian extended health insurers. NAO is the copyright holder of this title since October 09, 2013 (copyright # 1108241, with Canadian Intellectual Property Office of Industry Canada).National Academy of Osteopathy School Class

NAO is licensed by the province of Ontario (license # 200607893) and the Canadian government (license # 757053-8). NAO students in Canada receive up to $5000 in tuition & textbook tax credits from the Canada Revenue Agency. The WorkBC & Ontario Works programs of the Canadian government & the Metis Nation of Ontario provide full scholarships to eligible students to study manual osteopathy at NAO.

Our alumni are eligible to join most osteopathic organizations in Canada which allow them to bill most private health insurers & auto insurers (for car accident patients) in Canada for osteopathic care.

NAO alumni are permitted to work in all countries. In most countries they work as osteopaths. However in a few countries such as Canada & USA the term “osteopath“ is reserved for medical doctors who perform surgery & prescribe medications. In Canada & USA our graduates call themselves manual osteopaths or osteopathic manual practitioners.

NAO president, Shawn Pourgol, MBA, DC, DO, PhD is the founder and president of the Osteopathy Chronic Pain Clinics of Canada (www.osteopathypainclinics.com) which has over 209 clinics in Canada, USA and elsewhere. OCPCC is the largest pain clinic in the world and only alumni of our three schools can work in these clinics.

Here is what Honorable Dr Reza Moridi, member of provincial parliament and the Minister of Training, Colleges & Universities of Ontario (Canada) has wrote in an award presented to NAO: “The Academy trains people in a specific skill that is not readily available elsewhere. By doing so, you allow your students to pursue their dreams, enjoying rewarding careers and contribute to the well-being of the people of Ontario.“

We conduct research that is recognized for its contribution to manual osteopathy. NAO interns provide free manual osteopathic care for patients in our teaching clinic at the York University Heights campus of NAO in Toronto. We support manual osteopaths with the knowledge, resources and services to help their businesses thrive, and we advocate to influence education and health care policies that affect these health care practitioners.

We do hope you choose NAO for your osteopathic education. We love osteopathy, and we are passionate about it. Our goal is to make sure patients in every corner of the world have access to this wonderful health profession. We encourage you to study osteopathy. You would love every minute of it.

“I would like to thank Dr. Pourgol, founder of National Academy of Osteopathy, for trusting in my knowledge and for having me as a member of the teaching team of NAO. I always dreamed of teaching at academic level, as there is so much joy and pleasure in this profession. The applause from the students at the end of each lecture is the fuel that fills up my engine for the rest of my day. To me, to learn and never be filled, is wisdom; and to teach and never be weary, is love! At National Academy of Osteopathy, we do our job with love and passion. At the NAO, we teach, we demonstrate, and we practise. Here the students are clinically trained in manual osteopathy, and at the same time they learn basic & clinical sciences & are updated with the latest trend in health sciences. NAO students learn business skills such as marketing, tax planning, investments, patient retention, motor vehicle accident patient management, multidisciplinary referral systems, osteopathy rehab, and other practice related matters directly from Dr. Pourgol; one of the most successful osteopaths in the world. Therefore, if you are looking for a promising profession in health care, you are always welcomed at National Academy of Osteopathy”.
